Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Supervisor, is responsible for administering the maintenance programs, implementing planned capital cost work, supporting the day-to-day operations of telecommunications maintenance work including managing the coordination, inspection and quality control of contract and company crews. A key component of this position is the hiring, development, and performance management of Communications Technologists.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a champion to develop a \xe2\x80\x9csafety first\xe2\x80\x9d culture in ATCO Electricity. Lead by example through personal demonstration of HS&E best practices on a daily basis.
  • Acts as a \xe2\x80\x9cchampion for change\xe2\x80\x9d to ensure that business process and technology improvements are successfully implemented and promoted in the area.
  • Addresses day to day operating issues and/or escalate to Technical Services Manager as needed or required.
  • Optimizes the use of resources including people and equipment.
  • Monitors business metrics reporting to ensure targets are met.
  • Manages fleet utilization and builds business cases to support local requirements.
  • Ensures the effective use of asset management tools.
  • Creates and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Locally administers, manages, and provides visible leadership actively working with their team to ensure compliance with the corporate policies and best practices related to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Provides support and guidance to Team Leads to resolve situations that are outside of the ordinary or day-to-day practice.
  • Responsible for labour relations; works closely with human resources and CEWA to resolve issues that may arise.
  • Leads, coaches, and supports employee performance.
  • Monitors and regularly audits the application of company, government, industry practices to ensure all employees and contractors comply.
  • Ensures that all incidents and near misses are reported, documented, investigated and acted upon including escalation to the Technical Services Manager with follow up as required.
  • Developing operating procedures and processes as well as maintenance programs and recommending changes or improvements as required.
  • Monitoring O&M and Capital expenditures against operating budget and ensuring the execution of the yearly Capital Maintenance Plan.
Qualifications:
  • A related technologist diploma or engineering degree from a recognized institute.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Valid Driver\'s License
  • Ability to meet SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) and fitness/mask fit testing requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship development skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, Outlook.
