Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Recruitment and Learner Engagement, the Supervisor, Student Recruitment and Student Services Centre is responsible for overseeing the workflow and supervision of the Student Services Centre and student recruitment staff. The position is responsible for planning and hosting college-wide student recruitment events, coordinating College representation with the Post Secondary Institutions of British Columbia (PSIBC)annual student recruitment program and for representation at a range of community events. The position will also be actively engaged in student recruitment activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Schedules, plans and directs the workflow for Student Services Centre and student recruitment staff.
  • Supervises and reviews the work of Student Services Centre and student recruitment staff.
  • Plans, coordinates, and hosts college-wide student engagement events.
  • Prepares and maintains department operations manuals and trains staff.
  • Liaises with the Advising, Counselling and Disability Services Departments regarding appointment scheduling logistics.
  • Collaborates with Communications and Marketing on the development of promotional materials and resources for domestic student recruitment activities, including ordering resources and maintaining record of inventory.
  • Maintains inventory of department supplies including paper, forms, media and materials. Creates purchase requisitions and orders, tracks and receives items.
  • Develops and implements plans to streamline processes and procedures for efficiency. Identifies operational problems and reports issues to Associate Director.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications Department on the organization and hosting of a range of virtual or on-campus recruitment events such as College-wide information sessions, annual high school counsellors\' information sessions and campus tours. Works with program leaders to enhance and promote program information sessions.
  • Develops and delivers dynamic multi-media presentations that are targeted to specific audiences and sensitive to the communication needs of a culturally diverse population.
  • Coordinates logistical support for recruitment events including scheduling, promotion, communications, venue set-up, room booking, catering and billing.
  • Coordinates College representations at the annual high school recruitment schedule coordinated through PSIBC. Serves as a fully functioning member of PSIBC and attends annual meetings.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to represent the College through participation in a range of Community activities such as career fairs, festivals, cultural celebrations and awareness events.
  • Responds to external requests for information and actively promotes VCC to individuals, groups and the broader student community.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director, strategizes with Faculty, Department Heads and Administrators to assist in areas of soft-enrolment and create solutions.
  • Actively engages, selects, trains and coordinates student ambassadors to support student recruitment and engagement initiatives (i.e., student-led tours, informational events, Welcome Days).
  • Develops and maintains a professional network with key referral sources and other community partners, ensuring the College has a strong presence and is positioned to effectively collaborate on broader recruitment initiatives.
  • Acts as an expert resource to college leadership and staff regarding student recruitment programs and best practices.
  • Explores non-traditional marketing activities and recommends new technologies that advance student recruitment efforts such as multimedia, social media and web-based marketing tools.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor\'s Degree and 4 years\' related experience including experience as a supervisor and experience preparing and delivering presentations to a wide range of audiences, or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications. Valid Class 5 BC driver\'s license and access to the use of a motor vehicle is essential.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current and planned programs, courses, admission requirements and pre-requisites.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing presentations for both large and small groups.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of databases and student information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess operations, identify issues and research solutions, using data to support recommendations.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE

PAYGRADE 27 - $2,267.96 - $2,660.40 paid bi-weekly
