Job Summary

The Supervisor of Stores/ Building &Route, primary responsibility is to supervise the Building and Route staff, in the alteration and repair services of the building and routes operated by the Transit Division. Provides technical knowledge and services in support of MiWay Building & Route Transit\'s Facilities Equipment and assets, and maintenance programs. Provides technical support to Transit Maintenance to ensure all Safety and regulatory requirements are followed and implemented. Supervises and administers the facility operations, custodial activities, logistics, enhancements, staffing, tenant services, and customer service of facilities, while ensuring the principal operational activities of the facility remain prioritized and continue uninterrupted. Competent supervisor ensuring all building and maintenance staff are Trained to regulatory standards, Standard Operating procedures, Emergency preparedness and Lean principals. Coordinates with all external vendors\' trades to ensure compliance with all building maintenance and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hire, evaluate, train, oversee daily work, approve payroll, resolve conflicts, prepare work and vacation schedules for full-time staff
  • Prepare and manage current budget, and calculate quarterly forecasting budget
  • Deal with service contractors, acting as a liaison with trades and other service providers with Facilities & property Management as well as external contractors and trades
  • Ensure facility inspections, in-house checks and all documentation is completed accurately and on time, and recorded
  • Oversee fuel delivery schedules and schedule accordingly
  • Resolve operational issues and ensure compliance of all operating standards, policies, procedures, practices and legislation within the facility building code.
  • Provides input and recommendations to establish maintenance programs in accordance with manufacturers stipulated or recommended requirements and relevant codes of practice
  • Develops and maintains consistent and professional corporate equipment standards and practices for the preparation, execution, and distribution of technical documentation (e.g., engineering and asset management)
  • Develops and administers environmental procedures to meet federal, provincial, and municipal regulations
  • Conducts periodic audits of assigned facilities to ensure that proper emergency procedures are identified and in place, and comply with regulatory codes, safety standards, environmental regulation, fire plans, and protection of employees, visitors, and corporate assets.
  • Recommends improvements in facility operations, finance (e.g. cost control), and human resources (e.g. staffing levels, required skills)
  • Leader in safety and applicable regulatory laws to ensure all staff are kept from harm\'s way. E.g., fire alarms life safety, etc.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and proven leadership skills as both a team player and team leader
  • Knowledge of legislation and codes related to health, safety, and the environment (e.g. the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, Weeds and Pesticides Act, and associated regulations, building and fire Codes, electrical safety codes, Elevating Devices Act and other related codes)
  • Knowledge and practical use of Building Automation Systems.
  • Knowledge and practical use of Facility Asset Management Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting, contract negotiations, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of collective agreements, contract administration, and budget processes
  • Project management and interpersonal skills to coordinate complex projects under pressure and critical schedules
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
  • Knowledge and experience leading people effectively through continuous change and leadership training.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral/written/presentation communication skills
Skills and Qualifications
  • A Diploma in a related field (e.g. Certificate in Facilities Management, Building Environmental Systems, Business, etc) - or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
  • A Minimum of six (6) years\' progressive experience in facility operations or facility services with two (2) or more years in a supervisory and leadership role preferably in Facilities Services, unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Certifications or Designations Certifications related to facility management (e.g. Certificate in Facility Management Administrator (FMA), Property Administrator Certificate and Trade Certification) will be considered an asset.
  • A valid Ontario Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d driver\'s license is required to travel to various site locations. Must meet and maintain the corporate standards for a good driving record.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $40.94- $54.59
