Our Team:
The Health, Safety, and Risk North Atlantic Operations Team provides leadership in terms of execution of the health, safety, and operational risk management strategies for our Ontario Operations. In doing so the team enables the operations to meet business objectives and achieve outstanding outcomes focused on prioritizing, planning, and delivering on performance improvement areas.

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Safety to join our Safety Team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Supervisor, Safety you will be accountable for continuously improving the work team performance of the safety crew through the effective use of established processes and procedures.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shift.
  • Coach, mentor, and give guidance to all line management regarding their safety activities and requirements at the individual plants and must be a safety resource for all employees.
  • Make sure that all laws, regulations, and policies regarding safety are being followed.
  • Carry out tasks and audits assigned by the Manager of Health, Safety, and Risk (or designate).
  • Monitor/audit site safety systems reporting findings to Plant line management and the Manager of Health, Safety, and Risk (or designate).
  • Develop, execute, and document personal safety plans.
  • Support and audit all safety systems and assist line management in the safety investigation process when required.
  • Report safety statistics to line management at plant safety meetings.
  • Report incidents/accidents to the Ministry of Labour as prescribed by OHSA and accompany the Ministry of Labour inspector while they are on site.
  • Participate on external committees and associations as required.
About You

Education:
  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • Community College education is preferred.
  • CRSP certification is preferred.
Experience:
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar subject area.
  • 5 years of Underground Mining Operational Experience is a minimum requirement.
  • Underground Supervisor experience is preferred.
Skills:
  • Computer skills.
  • Health & Safety practices.
  • Have a sound understanding of and be capable of several activities that involve a variety of practices and precedents.
