Position Description

The Supervisor RT Technician is a key leadership role within the Respiratory Therapy Technical Division at SickKids. This position provides advanced technical expertise and oversight of respiratory therapy equipment and support services across the hospital, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient operations.


As a technical leader, you will supervise and mentor a team of eight RT Technicians, manage scheduling and performance evaluations, and oversee an equipment budget to ensure cost-effective procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle planning. You will collaborate with clinical teams, biomedical engineering, and supply chain departments to optimize service delivery and support high-quality patient care.

Leading maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of respiratory therapy equipment Coordinating technical operations and supporting new technology implementation Providing education and onboarding for staff and students Driving quality improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with safety standards Managing inventory, reporting, and budget planning for respiratory therapy equipment

Here's What You'll Need



Essential Requirements:



Minimum 5 years of experience as a respiratory therapy technician with strong technical expertise Completion of Grade 12 (Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent). Post-secondary education in health sciences, technical, or a related field (diploma or degree). Comprehensive understanding of hospital-wide respiratory therapy operations Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

Preferred Qualifications



Experience with quality improvement projects Completion of professional development courses in leadership, mentorship, or technical operations Additional certifications in medical equipment handling or clinical safety are an asset
