About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Records Management, the Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the regular operation of the Provincial Records Centre in both the Halifax and Sydney locations. As a specialist in the management of semi-active records the Supervisor works with a team of other Analysts to contribute to the development, implementation, and advancement of corporate records management for both departmental and government wide programs.

Primary Accountabilities

  • In this role, you will manage the daily operation of the Records Centre and lead a team of Records Clerks in the provision of high-quality services to government clients.
  • You will be responsible for establishing and meeting service standards, administering all operational systems including a specialized software environment, overseeing a quarterly billing cycle, and liaising and consulting with service partners.
  • You will lead, motivate, and manage your team and manage all aspects of their performance and attendance, and provide coaching and support in their development.
  • You will provide advisory and consulting services tailored to meet corporate and departmental needs in the management of semi-active records and research and contribute to the development of records management policies, procedures, guidelines, classification and retention schedules, training plans, presentations, and other documentation to support the effective management of government records.
  • You will also provide one-on-one and group training to government departments on Records Centre systems and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate, you possess a bachelor\'s degree in related field with at least one year of related experience.

You have experience with the following:
  • Leading or working in an active records program, or a Records Centre
  • Writing records management policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Developing classification and retention schedules
  • Creating training plans, presentations and other documentation
  • Using standardized records classification systems
  • Using database management systems and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Leading or supervising staff
You also possess the following:
  • Familiarity with the Government Records Act, Public Archives Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Well developed time, project management and analytical skills
  • A focus on client service delivery
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 06 - PR 10

Salary Range: $1,915.37 - $2,746.69 Bi-Weekly
