Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the daily production schedule; assign team members based on job order requirements and attendance at the start of each shift.
Review and analyze production schedules, work orders, charts, and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate outputs.
Coordinate operations and activities with other department supervisors to ensure smooth workflow between departments.
Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet deadlines and performance targets.
Inspect materials, equipment, and finished products for defects, malfunctions, and compliance with quality standards.
Train new employees on equipment operation and safety procedures; assign experienced team members as mentors when necessary.
Address and resolve employee concerns, complaints, and performance issues in collaboration with management.
Interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, and company policies for team members to ensure understanding and compliance.
Maintain accurate records of production data, including time, cost, and output, and generate regular management reports.
Recommend and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, product quality, and equipment performance.
Requisition materials, supplies, parts, and equipment as needed, and coordinate repairs or maintenance services.
Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and training; manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
Serve as a liaison between management and the production floor, fostering effective communication and alignment.
Organize initial and cross-training programs for team members to ensure versatility and skill development.
Support talent development and foster a team-oriented, high-performance culture.
Encourage employee engagement through team-building activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Enforce all company policies, safety rules, and standard operating procedures, including compliance with Samuel, Son & Co and Appleby Line safety standards.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in metal processing or a related manufacturing environment.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and commitment to enforcing them.
Basic computer proficiency (e.g., data entry, reporting tools).
Solid reading, writing, and math skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems effectively with vendors, customers, and team members.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
