Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Plant & Facilities Operations the Supervisor is an integral team member charged with the core mandate to maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient physical plant. This mandate is achieved by using your knowledge of hospital base building systems, processes, and infrastructure to effectively oversee complex and dynamic plant operations. The application of critical, analytical, and rapid decision making will be vital in achieving success.
As Supervisor, you will interact directly with internal and external stakeholders while leading a team of tradespersons, contractors, and/or consultants. Your exemplary customer service skills coupled to your technical knowledge will be essential.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of internal, unionized tradespersons through regular training, development, oversight, coaching, scheduling, and mentoring
Liaise daily with a network of external contractors undertaking activities ranging from maintenance, remediation and recovery, emergency response, and construction
Provide frontline support to internal stakeholders through regular communications and follow up
Provide first level support and oversight of plant and building operations including emergency response to core building systems such as boilers, chillers, elevators, normal and emergency electrical systems, building automation, and life safety systems
Work within defined protocols and procedures set internally and externally by Authorities Having Jurisdiction
Provide after-hours support by working on an on call rotation
Oversee the distribution, completion, and quality of corrective and preventative work requests using a CFMSS
Daily procurement of goods and services in compliance with Broader Public Sector Directives and internal policies.
Requirements:
Minimum five years' experience in plant and facilities operations leadership within a healthcare setting
Diploma in building operations (BES), facilities management, engineering technology or equivalent
Red Seal Trade, Stationary Engineer designation or equivalent experience
Project management experience considered and asset
Excellent customer service skills both written and in person
Flexibility to work varying hours as required for planned system outages and emergency response
The ability to work across all SHN sites as necessary based on demand and operations
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
Demonstrates values consistent with SHN's Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
