At SMS Equipment, our Parts Supervisor ensures that the daily activities of the parts department are carried out in a safe and productive manner. They promote safety awareness and cultivate a safety culture based on SMS safety vision, values and goals. Our Part Supervisors supervise the work of all parts order desk employees and enforce proper procedures for parts sales and customer service. This is in Elkford, BC.

The shift rotation for this position is 5x2.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Liaises with the Parts and Administration General Supervisor and Branch personnel to ensure efficient and profitable operation of area of responsibility. Assists in the development and execution of department cost model and control. Optimizes efficiency, productivity, and waste control.
  • Supervises the daily activities of the parts department within well-established and clearly defined policies and procedures. Schedules employees to meet the demands of the facility. Promotes safety awareness and handles general employee enquiries. Builds quick reference sheets for customers and internal use.
  • Manages parts programs. Ensures proper procedures for component exchange programs is followed including inventory program. Monitors all outbound stock, maintains communication with purchaser/ logistics personnel internally and externally. Makes recommendations on purchasing additional inventory for new models and/or customers.
  • Trains and develops personnel and delegates and prioritizes order desk responsibilities. Develops and maintains cross training between facilities.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a Post Secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a warehouse or industrial environment. Other requirements include:
  • Proven experience in the purchasing or parts technician field.
  • Experience operating successfully in an ISO 9001-2000 is an asset.
  • Ability to hold employees accountable to standards and be a strong leader that can effectively lead a group.
  • Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft applications; as well as familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Must have highly developed organizational, communication (verbal and written), problem resolution, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple remote sites or branches as required.
