Reporting to the District Manager, Parks Operations, this position is responsible for all Parks maintenance and operations activities in an assigned area, ensuring that all primary functions are carried out in a safe and effective manner.
Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all assigned operations staff ensuring the execution of planned and assigned work; staff development, coaching and training, performance evaluation and attendance monitoring, public administration and ensuring safe working conditions
Provides leadership in the area of Health and Safety, ensuring that all staff are fully trained a follow all legislated policies and City guidelines
Monitors key performance indicators and other internal analytics, and works with staff and other Supervisors to rectify variances to targets
Ensures compliance with Corporate and Departmental initiatives, guidelines, policies, procedures and City Bylaws
Responsible for the implementation of long term plans and maintenance strategies outlined in various approved portfolios, develops annual work plans and seasonal programs to meet these strategies
Responsible for the monitoring, allocation and approval of operating budget expenses, quarterly forecasts as well as input into the Parks and Forestry capital budget process
Responsible for various Parks Operations administrative functions (e.g. inventory control, incident/accident reports, absenteeism) Monitors, approves and rectifies staff work record entries using Infor
Responsible for the administration of the Performance Development Program (PDP), performance reviews, seasonal evaluations attendance management, disciplinary matters, staff development, hiring opportunities and recognition programs for both permanent and seasonal staff
Maintains effective working relationships with the public including residents, community groups and Councillors, effectively handling/resolving suggestions, requests, complaints and inquiries
Rectifies and responds to service requests regarding all park maintenance issues within a designated geographic area

Skills and Qualifications

Graduation from a post-secondary program in a discipline related to horticulture, arboriculture, turf
management or public administration, plus a minimum of seven (7) years' experience or an equivalent
combination of education and experience Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in leading and directing staff
Valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License with an excellent driving record (will be verified)
Must be willing to obtain a recent driver's abstract to your own expense
Standard First Aid and CPR required, or must be obtained at one's own expense prior to start date
Ability to plan, organize, train, lead and coach staff
Excellent organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Superior supervisory, leadership and team-building skills
Thorough knowledge of all relevant legislation and Corporate Policies and Procedures
Working knowledge and strong ability to use computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook,Infor, ActiveNet and SAP Business acumen and ability to understand business needs and the strategic priorities of an organization
Must be flexible and capable to work overtime, weekends, attend evening meetings, special events, and requires mandatory participation in the Supervisor On-Call/Standby Program.
Certification in Health and Safety is an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
