This job description describes general terms and responsibilities that employees will be expected to undertake; however, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the position due to business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Demonstrate an approachable, professional demeanour in interactions with staff and colleagues and provide them with a sense of security and welcome when they speak with you Provide superior customer service to families and respond to all inquiries, issues and concerns within required timeframes (whether in-person or email) and complete required documentation (including children's action plans) Make families feel welcome and conduct tours, complete family info sessions, and support family transitions into care and internal transitions Hire, mentor, and manage all center staff including: conducting interviews, welcoming new staff, ensuring staff files are complete and up to date, completing all performance reviews, taking appropriate disciplinary measures up to and including termination, and managing staff in a positive manner and understanding their needs Be knowledgeable about staff's roles and responsibilities to ensure satisfactory performance including: Early Childhood Educators/Assistants, Chefs, Custodians, Program Coordinators, and Early Childhood Specialists Create staffing schedules (including PC and ECS schedule) on a weekly basis, provide them to staff at least 72 hours in advance, track vacation and ensure coverage for staff on leave Utilize staff hours effectively and monitor through staff utilization reports with manager When needed, implement hands-on training with great accuracy for new hires and ensure they are knowledgeable in all policies, classroom procedures, documentation, iCare software, ordering and inventory Act as center representative for all inspections (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Public Health, third parties), Children's Aid Society visits, and any other inspections conducted on site Ensure CCEYA, all regulatory standards, and Lullaboo policies are implemented and monitor staff for compliance Provide leadership during all emergency situations including Serious Occurrences, report to relevant authorities in a timely manner (where applicable), and maintain related documentation Maintain accurate daily reporting and record keeping including: office communication log, medication intake, children's files (including children's plans and food restrictions), staff files, CCLS, iCare, Health & Safety checks, playground checks (including repair orders), and kitchen and janitorial management, Risk assessment Manage finance-related items in collaboration with finance department including: completing EFT biweekly, approving timecards for payroll weekly, uploading subsidy letters to iCare, maintaining visa and receipts, letters, payroll changes, and benefits Manage center information in CCLS (Child Care Licensing System) including staffing and Serious Occurrences Accurately complete Center Monthly Checklist Lead a facility fire drill on a monthly basis and lockdown drills on an annual basis Review classroom incident and illness reports for accuracy, identify patterns in reporting and support classrooms accordingly Ensure the quality of classroom programming meets the highest possible standard Create presentations for and lead staff meetings Attend and participate in supervisor meetings, staff workshops, networking opportunities and regional quality initiatives program meetings (if applicable) Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners including: regional quality initiatives representatives (ex. Raising the Bar, CQIP), regional early years specialists (ex. Peel EYS, Waterloo Pedagogical Consultant), regional special needs support organizations (ex. PIRS, KWHab, York EIS), etc. Maintain confidentiality of all records and data Communicate confidentially with employees and address any concerns regarding compliance or other matters Engage in continuous professional development to stay up to date with evolving practices in the industry Cover classroom ratio when urgently needed due to low staffing

Thorough knowledge of the CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen?, company policies, regional Public Health regulations, and effective practices in the industry Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate at all levels with staff, children, parents, and Directors Effective leadership and able to lead team and staff in a professional and courteous manner Strong teamwork and able to work collaboratively with others in a participative environment with a team player attitude Proactive in relation to health and safety for children and staff Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Able to make informed decisions and to follow through on decisions made Efficient organizational and time management skills including prioritizing tasks according to urgency Comfortable using technology including iCare system and other computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, key fob system, Predictive Index system) Able to set and meet goals evaluated through ongoing and annual supervisory feedback and achievement of business plan objectives and agreed upon professional/personal goals

Qualifications



Early Childhood Education diploma from a recognized College or University In good standing with Ontario's College of Early Childhood Educators At least 4 years of experience in the child care profession Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification Food Handlers Certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
