Come and join our team at Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery!The Opportunity:We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance to join our Utilities Department in the Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery in Sudbury, Ontario. The Utilities Department is a First Class registered plant. This is a permanent position.As a Supervisor, Maintenance you will be accountable for managing the social and technical processes of a front-line team within established limits, to meet the maintenance and production goals, and objectives of the work area in safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will be also accountable to ensure that the process operates within established limits, identify variances and take actions to address issues as they arise. You will also act as Chief Operating Engineer designate for the Chief Operating Engineer during vacation and other absences.Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Supervise area production and/or maintenance performance, and asset integrity, to confirm that processes are in place to maintain the plant and equipment, sustain/build capability, and to achieve the targets outlined in the Execution plan.
  • Identify common causes of variation and correct them in collaboration with area Superintendent and Operators.
  • Manage systems within the area of accountability to achieve zero harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Utilize the work practices under Work Management to approve, plan, and schedule tasks. Assess assignments during shifts to ensure that work is completed in a safe and coordinated way and that schedules are being attained by meeting all requirements regarding legislated regulations, company policies and practices, and collective agreements.
  • Coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, take corrective actions as required, and manage grievances as per the C.B.A.
  • Review and communicate Risk Management situations with crew members at line-up and field discussions.
  • Initiate on-shift investigations for incidents. Perform injury management, working with employees and health care providers to successfully return the employee to work.
  • Complete all maintenance-related reports and work orders and communicates status to oncoming shift(s).
  • Control inventories of consumables and supplies, and order materials to achieve production and/or maintenance schedules.
  • Meet objectives and comply with Monthly Safety plans, incident reporting process, Policy/Procedure reviews, MOC system, etc.
  • Manage plant activities on the off shifts as required in the on-call scheduling and manage overtime to within targets and distribute to crew members within the C.B.A. and provincial guidelines.
  • Manage schedule, contractors and employees during special projects such as maintenance scheduled down days, outages (such as shutdowns), and emergency breakdowns.
About YouEducation:
  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency required.
  • College Diploma in Operating Engineer Technician / Technologist or equivalent preferred.
  • Certificate of Qualification issued by TSSA Minimum 2nd Class Operating Engineer required.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or operations, including some time leading an operating / maintenance crew.
  • Experience with mechanical industrial maintenance using SAP program preferred and experience in other maintenance programs will be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and related software products required.

  • Flexibility and adaptability.

  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.

  • This position is accountable for contributing to various Operating Engineer tasks as well as supporting plant operating and maintenance requirements.
  • This position will ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of all equipment and within the IPC Utilities.
