About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for facilitating the day to day operations of Facility Support Services for Nova Scotia Health as well as ensuring a clean, safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. The Supervisor collaborates with the Assistant Manager in the planning and development of standardized practices and initiatives to ensure they are operationalized. This position requires travel to various locations.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • At least two years supervisory experience is required; experience within a health care setting is preferred.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in the theories and principles of cleaning methods, practices and techniques; experience with Occupational Health and Safety principles and WHMIS is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including MS Office products is required.
  • Experience in supervising a healthcare laundry department an asset
  • Knowledge of laundry and linen process across Eastern Zone an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills consistent with NSHA\'s mission, vision and values and the ability to motivate and engage others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Planning, organization and prioritization skills with demonstrated evidence of critical thinking, problem solving and analytical processing ability.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and has the ability to work independently, with strong ethical standards.
  • Commits to professional development and lifelong learning for self and others.
  • Development and maintenance of good interpersonal relationships with all employees reflecting client focus in forming partnerships with other stakeholders to meet client needs.

  • The demonstrated ability to create databases for improved decision making, departmentally and organizationally.
  • Demonstrated maturity in dealing with people under stress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all management and staff. Ability to asses and anticipate problems/issues on individual day unites in relation to services provided, as well as make proper and prompt decisions and take action when required. Emphasis on the ability to utilize leadership, motivational and development skills. Must be innovative and self-motivated and able to maintain strong inter-departmental relationships.
  • Required to answer calls and respond to emails and possibly come in to work outside\xe2\x80\x8e of normal working hours.
  • Travel to other sites is required and must have access to a reliable vehicle. Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • (2) Permanent, full-time positions; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • This position will require evening and weekend work
Compensation and Incentives

$28.89 - $36.11 Hourly
