BC Place is hiring for a part-time Supervisor, Health & Safety. The Supervisor, Health & Safety plays a key role in the success of health and safety operations at BC Place.



The Supervisor, Health & Safety will provide leadership to the department and support the Manager, Health & Safety in overseeing all aspects of BC Place's Safety & Security department with a focus on first-aid operations including risk management, incident investigations, department regulatory and industry specific training, records management and ensuring the safety of team members, contractors, visitors, and guests at all times.



WHAT YOU WILL DO:



Oversee all building and event health and safety matters while on duty to ensure the safety of guests, team members, the public, and physical property; Supervise the performance of the BC Place First Aid Team and Contractors; provide coaching and direction as appropriate and provide input into performance metrics including recognition rewards; Conduct investigations related to Event Safety & First Aid incidents noting dates/times/locations, collecting reports statements, conducting interviews, and taking detailed notes on scene. Deliver thorough in person stadium safety orientation including for restricted areas and keep detailed records of all safety orientation briefings. Participate in partnership with People & Culture to design, plan and deliver regulatory, compliance and industry specific training including Field Intrusion, WHIMIS, Radio Protocol, Stadium specific First-Aid, e.g. seat extraction for emergency health reasons. Provides expertise and recommendations to the annual Safety and Security's training plan. Contribute to the development and updates of policies and procedures for the Safety and Security department including incident/accident reporting, emergencies and evacuations. Conduct site inspections, monitor adherence to facility policies and procedures, and address operational issues. Assist Security with proper records management of investigations, event logs, incident reports, and eviction cards in collaboration with records management program for file coding and digitization. Collaborate with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) team to assess, implement and ensure FA related safety compliance for event and non-event activities. Ensure WorkSafe reporting from accident and incident investigation is initiated and shared with the People and Culture Team. Evaluate and monitor industry trends and regulatory changes. Work with contractors and clients as needed to meet the department and specific event needs. Participate and support in recruitment, orientation, and training of new team members. Effectively liaise with First Aid staff, other stadium departments and BCEHS paramedics to collaborate on patient care and transport decisions. Performs other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING:



3 - 5 years experience in a similar role in the event, entertainment, or service industry. Event medical experience an asset. Experience in hospital nursing or other pre-hospital care (ie: Ambulance Service) an asset. Valid Basic Security License (BST) an asset. Valid Advanced First Aid, or equivalent. Ie: Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA3). Valid Driver's License. Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Experience in developing first-aid, health and safety training strategies and programs. WHIMIS instructor certification an asset. Knowledge of a wide variety of standard software applications and internet communications. Experience using ABI, Momentus (previously known as EBMS/Ungerboeck) and Dayforce, or a similar scheduling program an asset. Experience supervising, coaching, and providing feedback to team members. Experience utilizing CCTV operating systems and security related software, e.g. Genetec; an asset. Successful completion of 'Workplace Violence Prevention' through any recognized educational organization an asset. Able to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner, including strong de-escalation skills. Able to clearly communicate and enforce safety protocols. Highly organized and diligent in managing multiple projects at one time. Demonstrate initiative, accountability and follow-through utilizing a collaborative and team-centred approach. Able to prioritise and work both independently and in a team. Experience working in a unionized environment an asset. Ability to withstand extended periods of standing and at times extensive walking from one location to another on concrete surfaces. Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours including afternoons, evenings, overnights, holidays and weekends. Driven by service excellence.
