Canadian Health Labs (CHL) seeks a Supervisor Health Programs to ensure effective leadership and management of the health centre. The position ensures the provision of professional community health nursing care to clients in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Health. The incumbent would support the provision of quality community health programming.

The position promotes optimal health in the community and ensures continuity of care. The incumbent will administer a comprehensive community health program in conjunction with other healthcare team members. The position is also responsible for stimulating a healthy awareness at the levels of prevention (i.e., primary \xe2\x80\x93 health promotion and specific protection against diseases; secondary - early diagnosis and prompt treatment intervention in the disease process; tertiary \xe2\x80\x93 rehabilitative activities). This position would provide local leadership to front-line health workers to ensure the cohesion of the community teams.

This is the senior position in the health centre, which has responsibility for managing and providing direct clinical and administrative supervision and training for community health nurses at various levels of qualification and administrative coordination for supervision and training of support staff.

This is a TRAVEL role. Applicant must be willing to be deployed in Nunavut for 30 days or more. We offer flexible agreement lengths, with long-term deployment incentives available. All travel and accommodation costs are 100% covered by CHL.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

  • Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; registered in good standing with a provincial governing body.
  • Five (5) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year of northern nursing and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centred care.
  • Proficient clinical skills in assessment, physical examination, and nursing intervention.
  • Ability to establish relationships based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and recognize when consultation is needed.
  • Microsoft Windows-based programs competency.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut\xe2\x80\x99s official languages is an asset.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advances in Labor and Risk Management (ALARM)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per provincial Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy.
Criminal records and vulnerable sector checks will be required.
