At SMS Equipment our Field Supervisors are charismatic leaders who love being a part of an essential and dynamic team. In this position, the Field Supervisor leads a team of career trades people who exceed customer expectations and demonstrate personal craftmanship in everything they do. We are looking for a leader who will bring their own insight, experience and positive influence to the team. This position is located in Wabush, NL. The shift rotation for this position is 14x14. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversees shop facilities and service operations by ensuring operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of trades people. Assures a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product. Prepares and processes internal and external work orders and ensures all supporting information is documented and kept with work order.
- Supervisory Responsibilities include supporting and developing staff by providing or arranging training on assigned tasks and tracking their training. Review schedules to ensure trades people are allocated correctly and each department has the support they require. Ensures all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed. Assists with preparing and reviewing Incident/Accident reports. Directly assists trades people and ensures employee rotation between departments for development purposes.
- Customer Service is provided by assisting customers with service information and resolving service problems by providing solutions and following up to ensure resolution. Prepares reports and quotations as required.
- Administrative Responsibilities include perform material handling documentation for shipping of product. Ensure Lead Hands perform Pre-Job Assessments with technicians and perform Post repair inspections. Prepare warranty work orders with all required documentation Order supplies and parts.
- Safety: Performs random audits to check processes. Brings awareness to safety by participating fully in all Acheson and Company safety programs. Ensures all department activities are conducted in full compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, company rules and processes (policies, CP\xe2\x80\x99s, SWP\xe2\x80\x99s, JHA\xe2\x80\x99s) and other applicable legislation. Ensures corrective actions are implemented and maintained.
- Journeyperson level trade certification in a relevant trade or a mechanical background.
- Position requires a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of Komatsu and other OEM equipment.
- Supervisory experience in an industrial environment is a requirement.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
- Must be an organized individual, self-motivated and a self-starter.
- Good computer skills with familiarity with MS Office.
- Also requires knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
