Our Team:
Vale Smelter, located in Copper Cliff, is a critical operation in the production of Finished Nickel. The plant is comprised of over a dozen Operating, Maintenance, and Technical departments working together to process Nickel Concentrate to supply the Vale Refineries.

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance to join our Smelter in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance you will be accountable for continuously improving the work team (electricians) performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures. The successful candidate will be accountable for supervising within the Smelter Maintenance Department.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work Monday to Friday, day shift.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and prioritize tasks with minimal direction.
  • Holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Ensure planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed.
  • Work within budget, guidelines, and standards.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including other supervisors, planners, schedulers, superintendents, crew members, etc.
  • Work with Plant contacts and OSHE Members to complete all safety requirements (ie: JHA\xe2\x80\x99s, PHR\xe2\x80\x99s, SWP\xe2\x80\x99s, Lift Plans, etc.).
  • Review and promote/reject all new notifications into your work center through the group approval process.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders for completion by their Required End Date.
  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned based on priority and required end date.
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets.
About You

Education:
  • College Diploma or a minimum grade 12 with equivalent experience is required.
  • Electrical Red Seal Certificate of Qualification 309A or 442 is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Experience in the mining or construction environment in maintenance.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, and related software products.
Skills:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, and related software products.
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills.
