Job Description

In keeping with Covenant Health's Mission, Vision and Values and as an integral member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising and organizing the activities which support a quality and safe food service operation. The Supervisor recruits, orients, coordinates training, supervises, and evaluates employee performance. The Supervisor is responsible for developing and monitoring operational targets and making adjustments in daily work to achieve those targets, ensuring safe work practices and a safe environment. Implements and conducts audits, surveys and other tools that promote accurate, quality, client focused services delivered in a cost effective manner. Creates and maintains good communication with departmental and site personnel as well as patients, families and visitors. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications: Grade 12 diploma. Completion of 2 year Food Service Management course or equivalent management training. Food safe certificate Minimum 2 years recent experience in a supervisory role. Minimum 3 years' experience in a related health care experience. Experience in employee scheduling. Experience in conducting satisfaction surveys/quality audits. Experience in customer relations.

Additional Required Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to contribute and function as a team. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in office procedures and computer applications in a Windows environment, email, internet, and staff scheduling programs. Current knowledge and comprehension of dietary guidelines and food services terminology.

Preferred Qualifications: WHMIS certificate. Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management. Member of CAFP (Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals). Working knowledge of collective agreements.
