This challenging and rewarding role requires an individual to supervise a range of court programs, services, and operational functions within courthouses in Gore Bay. You will manage the provision of services, facilitate the enforcement of court decisions, ensure the proper administration of court documents, and provide technical advice to staff and justice participants.



As a representative of the Court Services Division, we rely on your leadership to achieve our mission of administering the justice system and protecting the public by fostering an inclusive work environment that values service excellence, accountability, innovation, and responsiveness to the evolving needs of Ontario.



This dynamic frontline essential role thrives on your physical presence at the office. The Supervisor of Court Operations is expected to be on-site 5 days a week at the Gore Bay Courthouses. .

As a M09 Supervisor, Court Operations, you will be working as a member of the local management team, utilizing your exceptional leadership capacity to supervise and support staff, provide guidance and coaching as needed, monitor progress, and evaluate employee performance. You will clearly communicate values and expectations to promote an engaged and inclusive team environment.



Working closely with colleague Supervisors, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of court services for a range of practice areas (criminal, civil and family) and/or operational functions (court office, court case scheduling and in-court staffing), and will be tasked with resolving operational and client issues, ensuring that solutions comply with legislation, regulations, collective agreements, policies, and procedures. You will contribute to the planning and management of operational support services, including financial management, human resource management, facilities management and staff deployment. You will utilize your strong knowledge of court services to provide technical and procedural advice to staff. Modernization and improved services are a priority of the Court Services Division, and we rely on all our supervisors to monitor service quality, identify opportunities to improve processes, develop recommendations and implement approved changes, all in accordance with the divisional operational plans.

Management and Leadership Skills



You can manage and supervise staff by communicating values, strategies, expectations and promote an engaged and inclusive environment. You can lead orientation and training for staff and coordinate operational activities, such as scheduling of staff and court caseloads. You can ensure that organizational standards and operational goals are met (e.g. contributing to succession planning, establishing performance standards, etc.). You can provide input into divisional and regional business planning processes

Technical Knowledge



You have knowledge of human resources practices, policies, directives, and collective agreements in relation to recruitment, training and development and labour relations to support an inclusive and engaged team. You have knowledge of financial and administrative procedures to develop annual budgets, manage assets, and contract service providers. You can interpret and apply relevant legislation, case law, acts, regulations, and court rules, and provide technical direction to staff. You have knowledge of judiciary policy, compliance processes and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) protocol to support the delivery of justice-to-justice participants.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills



You can provide information and advice to members of the legal profession, justice participants, internal stakeholders, and members of the public. You can use your tact, discretion, and political acuity to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively with people in sensitive or stressful situations. You can work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure coordination of services to the courts and the public. You have written communication skills to prepare briefing notes for senior management on local operational issues, and business cases/reports to support recommendations for changes to processes and service delivery

Analytical and Planning Skills



You can analyze operational processes, trends, and issues to identify opportunities for and recommend improvements to business processes. You can work with staff to implement approved process changes. You can investigate and resolves customer service issues. You can support the planning, coordination, and implementation of contingency plans to ensure the continuation of court services.
