StFX is a top ranking Canadian university and we are seeking a Supervisor, Conference Services to be a part of the Ancillary Services team. This opening is a full time position commencing as soon as possible. Reporting to the Manager, Conference Services, the Supervisor of Conference Services will be the initial point of contact for clients. The primary function of this position is to ensure the client\'s requirements are determined and all expectations are met in a professional and courteous manner. Key Responsibilities

  • Initial contact with the client to ensure all of the needs are understood.
  • Supervisor special events coordinator, including scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for securing venues and accommodations along with any other details that may be available at the initial booking.
  • Responsible for preparing quote for client and ensuring client information, confirmation and payment information is accurate. Delegates event to the Event Coordinators.
  • Provides clear, concise, and timely information for the operational departments. Assists in scheduling operational set-ups to provide equipment or services needs.
  • Provide onsite support at events when required
  • Weekend and evening work required
Qualifications
  • A minimum University Degree in Hospitality, Business or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years experience in a similar role. Experience in a University environment will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethics and success at working in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up with an eye for detail
  • MS office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) experience helpful
  • Experience working with and communicating to customers a must
