About the Tutoring Program
Shining Through Centre offers one-on-one tutoring services. Using ABA strategies and evidence based curricula, our experienced staff evaluate and design a path that best targets the student's academic challenges. This program is best suited for school-aged children who are struggling to develop reading, writing and math skills. This program runs after school from Mondays-Wednesdays from 8:30am-4:00pm.
Position Summary
Reporting to a Supervised Senor Implementors, the Part Time Supervised Implementors/Tutoring is responsible for implementing the individualized goals, objectives and priorities established for learners as well as the collection and reporting of data for their programs. Instructors will use Precision Teaching, Direct Instruction and other tools/curricula, to teach targeted goals.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
Work with children/adolescents, one-on-one to implement individualized behaviour programming developed by the Supervising Therapist
Daily collection, recording and analysis of data
Monitors learner progress and communicates to the Supervised Senor Implementors on any matters relating to the development of the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Creatively prepares daily materials
Participates in research of lesson topics and lesson development
Provides daily updates to parents/guardians
Attend professional development opportunities and required training provided by Shining Through
Support learners in a school inclusion setting
Requirements/Qualifications
Education in a related field e.g. Psychology, Autism and Behavioural Sciences, etc.
In-depth knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis
Minimum 6 months experience delivering ABA to individuals with Autism (age 5 to 18)
Strong decision making skills to deal with daily learning challenges
Strong understanding of English language and grammar
Calm under pressure and when working without a Supervisor present
Willingness to be flexible and ability to think quickly to help de-escalate big emotions
Strong analytical skills to interpret data and evaluate program effectiveness
Ability to move around throughout the day and to engage in physical activity/play with learners
Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently are essential
The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening)
