Function:
Plan, co-ordinate, assign, review and monitor the work of technicians reporting to you, within your delegated authority; advise technical, production and other staff on the best operating, installation and technical/artistic production methods for achieving production goals. Provide engineers and other workers with specialized assistance and make recommendations for technical equipment purchases.
Description of duties:Plan, co-ordinate, assign, review and monitor, based on production needs and departmental objectives, the work of technicians reporting to you, and report on performance, discipline and safety matters. Advise technical, production or other staff on workforce, training, installation and equipment requirements for technical operations; prepare detailed reports and make recommendations. Advise technical, production or other staff on technical operations. Act as a consultant to production, technical and other staff on technical operations and in evaluating new technical equipment; report your findings. Evaluate operations and technical maintenance, and review operating methods and technical standards; submit recommendations for improving or modifying them. Provide engineers, project leaders and other workers with specialized assistance. Plan, test and configure technical equipment on projects; make recommendations, track and upgrade software. Ensure that the complex system checks and adjustments required for optimal performance of technical setups are carried out. Assign technical staff as delegated, or assign them work schedules, checking the accuracy of time sheets provided and work performed. Anticipate and determine, in conjunction with management or other key contacts, training requirements to refresh the knowledge of technical or other staff in response to changing needs and technologies. Design, draft, organize and deliver technical training courses or seminars, and guide the various workers in performing their duties. Co-ordinate, review and assess the work of trainees and report on their progress. Design, administer and grade tests for technical staff and job applicants; check, assess and report on their competence. Design and draft documents (such as reference or training manuals) and operating procedures; catalogue and update these materials and ensure their availability. Plan, determine and distribute to the relevant people the technical equipment required for production; monitor that equipment and ensure it is in good working order. Enforce safety measures for all workers and formulate recommendations to this effect. Maintain, where necessary, an inventory of parts, modules, equipment, spare equipment and other supplies, ensuring that sufficient quantities are in stock for operations to run smoothly. Investigate, verify and review reported defects, taking or recommending any necessary corrective action. Commit the Corporation, per your delegated authority or in consultation with your supervisor, to agreements with vendors, firms and contractors for the procurement of services or equipment. Ensure that services rendered and equipment ordered meet the requirements of the initial agreement. Perform site surveys, as needed, to identify locations and technical requirements for productions. Keep your knowledge current so that you can perform your assigned duties and stay abreast of changing technology. Provide maintenance technicians with ongoing operational advice, direction, guidance and encouragement to ensure a healthy work environment and maintain service quality; onboard and follow up with new employees. Perform the technical duties of the technicians reporting to you. Prepare, maintain and renew the ATA Carnet required to transport equipment outside Canada. In case of technical failure, take the necessary corrective action to restore service and inform the relevant people. Attend planning and production meetings as needed. Report any breakdowns or defects in equipment or material to the relevant people. Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper follow-up and to keep others informed. Familiarize other employees with their duties and the work environment. Carry out, as needed, all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group, as well as other related duties.

Your profile:
Qualifications:Community college diploma in TV production and post-production or in electronics Seven (7) years' experience required to perform the job satisfactorily, given that you play an operational consulting role in addition to co-ordinating work

Skills:Knowledge of Lawo and Yamaha consoles and software Knowledge of Dalet, Jira, Pro Tools, Nuendo, On-Air Designer Advanced knowledge of IP networks, PC/Mac and Google tools Experience designing technical training courses Understanding of programming languages for audio and video systems Advanced knowledge of DAWs and field audio recording
