Reporting to the construction captain, the construction supervisor will plan, coordinate, and supervise activities related to underground operations. They will ensure operational efficiency underground with a constant focus on compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and will see to the application of company policies. Based at the Windfall site in northern Quebec, the supervisor will work an 8-day work schedule followed by 6 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided.

Duties and responsibilities



Supervise underground service and construction teams; Ensure compliance with plans and instructions in the daily execution of tasks; Observe tasks; Plan equipment for upcoming work; Notify technical services if there are discrepancies between plans and conditions in the field; Conduct joint visits with technical services; Develop work methodology with workers; Mentor and coach workers; Assign work for each shift according to priorities; Ensure work progress in collaboration with the technical services department; Ensure daily reports, work cards, and prevention activities are completed and follow up with other departments; Be safety-conscious and maintain a workplace based on mutual respect, fairness, and integrity; Report any situation that could affect the health and safety of staff or the physical integrity of the facilities; Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules at all times and ensure that all staff under your supervision comply with these rules; Perform any other tasks related to the position of construction supervisor that are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications



Hold a college diploma in mining technology or a professional diploma in ore extraction; Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in underground mining; Have a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience; Experience working with First Nations (an asset); Functional English (an asset); Valid Class 5 driver's license; Explosives license; Modular training for mining workers 1 to 7 and 10.

Technical skills



Knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations specific to mining, as well as blasting and ground control methods; Knowledge of mining equipment and materials; Knowledge of supervision formulas; Good knowledge of Office software.

Basic skills



Possess strong leadership skills; Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and political savvy; Be adaptable and open to change and constructive feedback; Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities; Be self-reliant, show initiative, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; Be a good communicator; Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity; Demonstrate thoroughness in occupational health and safety.
