Our
Cashier Supervisor
is responsible for overseeing the front-end operations of a supermarket, ensuring that cashiering activities run smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with store policies. This role involves the ability to work in a fast-paced environment: supervising cashiers, handling customer service issues, managing cash flow & daily cash operations, reconciling cash records at the end of each day, reporting to the General Manager, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
General Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision
Supervise, train, schedule, and support a team of cashiers and baggers.
Monitor cashier performance and provide coaching or corrective action when needed.
Ensure adherence to store policies and procedures at the checkout area.
Cash Handling
Reconcile cash drawers at shift changes and end of the day.
Assist with cash drops, safe counts, and bank deposits.
Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies or register errors.
Customer Service
Handle escalated customer complaints or concerns quickly and professionally.
Ensure front-end team provides friendly, accurate, and efficient service.
Assist customers with issues related to pricing, returns, or payment.
Operational Support
Ensure all registers are open and staffed during peak hours.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area.
Report maintenance or technical issues with POS systems to management.
Training and Development
Onboard and train new cashier staff.
Conduct refresher training on POS systems, procedures, and customer service skills.
Promote a positive team environment and high morale among cashiers.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a cashier; supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in retail or supermarket environments is an advantage.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal/people skills.
Proficient in using Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
Good numerical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
Work may or may not include weekends, to be discussed.
Physical tasks include standing for long periods and light lifting.
Able to work in fast-paced and customer-facing environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
