Reporting to the Supervisor of Field Operations, the Shallows Superintendent will be responsible for managing and executing underground utility projects with a primary focus on shallow utility installations such as Enmax/Fortis, Telus, Rogers and Atco. By effectively coordinating with field staff, subcontractors, and clients to manage deliverables and daily operations, you'll contribute to revenue growth and cost reduction while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. The ability to maneuver scheduling, procurement, and personnel management while maintaining cost control will be essential in this role.

Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment Ensure effective deployment and productivity of work crews, equipment, and resources to meet project safety, schedule, cost, scope, and quality objectives, with a specialized focus on shallow underground utilities, including Enmax/Fortis, Telus, Rogers and Atco Communicate openly with Project Managers, Supervisors, and Operations Managers to identify and address issues that could impact project plans or timelines Oversee and coordinate daily activities, implementing corrective actions to maintain project progress and budgets while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and compliance standards Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, minimize cost overruns, and enhance revenue Evaluate engagement levels, delegate effectively, provide constructive performance feedback, and recognize outstanding contributions, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth Collaborate with People & Culture on recruitment, succession planning, and employee development by sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and discussing offers to ensure a positive candidate experience and a skilled, engaged workforce Implement and enforce relevant construction laws, building codes, and industry specifications Attend pre-tender meetings and support the securement of new contracts and projects through the estimation process and RFP preparation Identify and implement best practices in materials, construction methods, and process improvements, while maintaining documentation to support quality assurance and control standards Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure high service standards and successful project outcomes

What You Bring



10+ years of progressive construction experience, with a minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in shallow utility construction is required In-depth knowledge of shallow utility materials, systems, and construction methodologies, with proficiency in reading drafts, drawings, and prints Proficiency with Microsoft Office and app-based safety and production tools Flexibility to work long hours, shifts, on-call, or night work in various weather conditions as required, with readiness to travel to remote areas Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a Driver's Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
