Our projects have ranged from $20M to $300M and continue to grow.POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for the management and execution of the day-to-day construction work on our solar projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that our projects are completed safely, in accordance with Alltrade's safety and quality standards, on schedule, budget, and in compliance with the contract.Alltrade's Western office is located in Okotoks, Alberta, however, the Superintendent position would be required to work directly on project sites across Alberta and/or Saskatchewan.PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enable the Safety and Quality culture expected of an Alltrade construction project. Ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations and company policies
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Safety, etc.) to establish plan for overall project success.
  • Communicate with the local utility and engage with AHJs and permit authorities to facilitate successful permit issuance and closure.
  • Assists with the construction planning effort and development of Installation Work Packages & Inspection Test Plans
  • Lead and manage self-perform crews and subcontractors, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality workmanship. Utilise productivity tracking and / or earned value to track and confirm alignment with schedule and budget. Resolves construction conflicts, delays, and in-field issues.
  • Participates in the development of subcontractor's scope of work, sequencing, coordination, scheduling, installation, and logistics related to projects.
  • Follow preplanning activities that adhere to Alltrade philosophies.
  • Assisting the Pre-Construction team in the budgeting and scheduling process and in closing all major tendered project opportunities to ensure constructability is taken into account, and no scope gaps exist.
  • Understand and oversee compliance with the EPC contract.
  • Manage and execute construction activities in compliance with the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met.
  • In Coordination with Project Team complete weekly updates are provided and incorporated in the project schedule. In addition, completion of daily field reports is an expectation.
  • Participate in Plan-of-Day meetings and provides update of contractor or self-perform activities.
  • Managing employee relations and resolving of employee concerns and conflicts directly under their supervision, providing direction in training of Forepersons and Lead Hands, and participate in the hiring of field manpower.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-10 years of electrical and/or civil construction experience, with 5+ years' experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in solar/energy construction.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes required.
  • Previous experience working on EPC projects is an asset.
  • Experience in substation and transmission line construction and commissioning is an asset.
  • Location flexibility or willingness to relocate for the project's duration.
  • Full-time commitment to working at the project site during construction.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices, and standards
  • Proven commitment to enforcing a safety-first culture.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools.
