Job Description


Reporting to the Technical Services Director, you will work in close collaboration with the other superintendents in the group, as well as with corporate teams. As part of a multidisciplinary technical support and project evaluation team, you will be in charge of a team of engineers and technicians responsible for metallurgical activities (including a laboratory at the CSD office in Preissac).With your group, you will be responsible for developing selected concepts in scenario evaluation (scoping) or pre-feasibility studies, using a systematic method of applying protocols to target the most economical rheograms according to the size and quality of the deposits studied. To this end, close monitoring and management of multiple studies will be an important part of the role. Occasionally, support will be provided for feasibility studies and detailed engineering.You will need to capture, structure and prioritize the Metallurgy Team\'s project portfolio in order to optimize value creation for the company, while ensuring interdepartmental synergy.In addition, the Metallurgy Team will actively participate, in the field, on pilot projects, technology development or implementation.TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Manage and supervise a team of more or less 12 people (coordinate annual objectives, performance evaluation, training, coaching, hiring, team development, etc.);
  • Prioritize and follow up on various studies, projects and support requests;
  • Support the laboratory coordinator with management, prioritization and organization;
  • Ensure that the team maintains quality standards and remains at the forefront of the field;
  • Observe work performed in the department to improve productivity and maximize use of resources;
  • Participate in the development of the strategic vision of Technical Services within AEM;
  • Maintain collaboration with various groups and stakeholders;
  • Establish budgets for your group.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT:
  • Development of new mining projects, such as the evaluation of external projects for acquisition purposes, satellite projects to an ongoing operation, as well as the development of projects that are part of the company\'s exploration portfolio;
  • Technical support for existing operations as required;
  • Support for various projects identified as strategic by the company;
  • Research & development as well as participation in some innovation and digital transformation projects;
  • Participate in the drafting of scenario evaluation, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies;
  • Compliance with industry and Agnico Eagle standards;
  • Represent the Metallurgy Group on various R&D and innovation committees such as COREM, MISA and IRME;
  • Work closely with the Metallurgy Corporate Director as needed (technical, financial and risk management review);
  • Participate in the selection of samples and determine tests and analyses to be performed to determine the process to be used;
  • Provide support in the evaluation of process plant equipment and operating costs;
  • Support and search for opportunities to improve existing systems;
  • Verify plans and specifications and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Participate in technical reviews of corporate projects;
  • Oversee technological advancements in the department, such as the purchase and use of new equipment, software or instrumentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Mining and Mineralurgical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering;
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in Mineral Processing;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in team supervision;
  • Minimum of five (5) years in project management and/or development;
  • Member of the \xc2\xab Ordre des ing\xc3\xa9nieurs du Qu\xc3\xa9bec (OIQ) \xc2\xbb;
  • Ability to apply strategic technical and financial management concepts;
  • Experience working in ore processing plants and engineering firms;
  • Knowledge of machining equipment and processes used in gold and base metal industries;
  • Experience in project management, process development using laboratory protocols and interdisciplinary communication;
  • Stakeholder management skills;
  • Proficiency in the use of the French language (spoken and written);
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language as you will be working in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary language;
  • Knowledge of Spanish is an asset;
  • Ability and interest to travel to the company\'s project and operating sites in Canada, Finland, Australia and Mexico.
Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday;
  • Workplace: Most of the work must be done from the CSD Preissac office, but some days can be worked from AEM offices in Rouyn-Noranda, Preissac, Val-d\'Or or Mirabel;
  • If the preferred office is outside the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, a regular presence (approximately 50% of the time) will be required in the region and at the CSD Preissac office;
  • There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
