THE ROLE
The Superintendent, Electrical & Mechanical, reporting to the Director of Field Services, will lead our project teams by example; always demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, skill and motivation, ensuring that each team member has the knowledge, skills, tools and resources to meet the project goals. The Superintendent will monitor the execution of work to ensure that schedules and budgets are met as efficiently as possible as well as support the Construction Manager in solving various mechanical problems and providing creative solutions in a fast-paced environment under tight schedule and cost constraints.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provide direction during functional performance testing of mechanical and electrical systems
Monitor work performance and efficiency of mechanical and electrical employees, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project plans and schedules are followed effectively and within budget
Plan the mechanical and electrical components of a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager
Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in resolving these conflicts
Lead M&E project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team's ongoing progression
Review mechanical and electrical changes received from the architect to ensure they are complete and up to standards and review subcontractor prices on these changes
Complete construction drawing review, shop drawing review, plan and execute commissioning work oversee owner training and O/M manual delivery
Mentor team members to ensure career growth and development
Work collaboratively with the project teams including clients, architects and consultants
Ensure that site documentation (such as weather, accidents, field force numbers, concrete pours, etc.) is accurately recorded daily.
Review and approval of all own force's timesheets.
WHAT YOU BRING
You must have a relevant trades certificate /or relevant experience and five to six years of mechanical and electrical construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
A working knowledge of scheduling, project management and contract software
You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes and produce workable solutions while coordinating multiple building processes.
Have a good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.
NICE TO HAVE
Labour relations expertise in both union and non-union environments is an asset.
Previous experience in Procore would be an asset.
Red Seal & Gold Seal or GSI Registered an asset.
