Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure & Shared Resources, the Superintendent, Major Maintenance is accountable for safely executing major maintenance at Trail Operations.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a proven, forward-thinking leader with a strong focus on safety, team building, performance management, productivity, and technical literacy. Excellent project management, prioritization, and decision-making skills a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage and oversee all Major Maintenance activities and projects ensuring standards, policies and procedures are followed
  • Drive a performance-focused culture delivering Major Maintenance activities and projects safely, on-time, within scope, within budget and to defined quality standards
  • Provide technical expertise and advice for Major Maintenance activities
  • Initiate audits and reviews, approve corrective actions, and provide support and guidance required
  • Utilize JDE (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to perform maintenance activities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Coordinators by managing day-to-day activities, providing strategic direction, driving performance and excellence, and organizing work to achieve a positive working environment
  • Provide short and long-term performance and career development for employees; provide opportunities for assignments that leverages skills, promotes learning, and grows people\'s capabilities
  • Oversee the allocation of resources and equipment for Major Maintenance by planning, monitoring, coordinating, and scheduling resources and equipment in accordance with the Teck Work Management Operational Framework
  • Identify constraints and develop strategies to ensure resource availability and appropriate allocation to meet major maintenance demand across Trail Operations in a cost-effective manner
  • Develop and maintain cross functional working relationships with business units to ensure priorities are aligned with business requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders prioritizing transparent and proactive communication
  • Recommend and implement improvements for major maintenance projects and processes by identifying opportunities, working with stakeholders, executing improvement initiatives, and validating performance results
  • Provide input into budgets by monitoring and reporting on expenditures and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and explaining variances
Qualifications:
  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate, Mechanical Engineering Degree or other related degree or certification required
  • Minimum 6 years experience in a supervisory capacity in an industrialized environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset
  • Must hold a valid driver\'s license
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong digital literacy including MS Office and a Maintenance Management System, preferably JD Edwards
