About Potash

BHP\'s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\'s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\'s global portfolio. Jansen\'s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.

Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role will be eight days on, six days off.

This role is eligible for accommodation in the site camp site.

Purpose

The Superintendent Health will be instrumental in delivering improvement and governance in the domain of Health and Hygiene (H&H) across Potash. The role will provide leadership and expert advice to our construction projects, operation readiness, and other stakeholders on occupational H&H related matters and risks. The role will set and drives health related strategies to drive an uplift in quality of plans, standards, practices that address health and hygiene issues/risks.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Be the primary H&H interface with operation readiness, Jansen site teams, Minerals America HSE, and Group HSE.
  • Manage and execute improvement work that requires technical H&H related expertise across various functions, site teams, and contractors.
  • Leverage deep subject matter expertise, knowledge of the business, technology, and advanced analytical capabilities to report H&H performance, identify opportunities for improvement and emerging H&H issues within construction onsite.
  • Ensure Jansen site\'s compliance to the various company H&H protocols including the BHP Health Our Requirements and associated legislation.
  • Ensure occupational exposure management including associated contractor management.
  • Govern the development and enhancements of H&H procedures and training.
  • Provide technical expertise in Fitness for Work, Fatigue Management, and Drug and Alcohol processes, including the development of suitable duties plans and associated documents.
  • Manage the BHP health and hygiene data management system (Cority) to ensure quality of exposure monitoring data and accurate reporting of results to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate critical rhythms and routines that ensure an effective and efficient deployment of H&H initiatives and delivery against KPIs.
  • Participate in routines to provide technical assurance over the delivery of standards relevant to H&H across Jansen.
  • Conduct benchmarking with industry peers and represent BHP externally in forums requiring deep subject matter expertise.
About You
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Health and/or Industrial Hygiene discipline OR strong technical knowledge in Industrial hygiene through proven work experience.
  • Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) is preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to influence and mentor others in Health and Safety principles and behaviours.
  • Demonstrated experience in a construction, mining operational or functional heavy industry role with successful leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and joint ventures.
  • Experience challenging priorities and plans to validate they are focused on what matters most.
  • Ability to conduct benchmarking with industry peers and represent BHP externally in forums requiring deep subject matter expertise.
  • High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes.
  • Experience managing change initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
