We are currently hiring an experienced

Civil Superintendent

for a remote project in

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

.

Reporting to Senior Management, the Civil Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day site operations of our civil construction project. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, while managing crews, subcontractors, equipment, schedules, and documentation.

Projects include underground utilities, mass earthworks, grading, clearing and grubbing, roadworks, and other related scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards. Coordinate, schedule, and direct field crews, equipment operators, subcontractors, and vendors. Monitor and drive project progress to meet production targets, timelines, and budgets. Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OH&S) and company policies; lead by example with strong safety culture. Communicate daily with project managers and senior leadership regarding progress, site conditions, and risk mitigation. Perform quality control inspections to ensure all work meets required standards and specifications. Track daily production quantities, site activities, and changes; maintain accurate documentation and reporting. Review and approve crew timecards and ensure cost coding is completed accurately. Conduct and participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings. Assist with coordinating first calls, dig permits, and other preconstruction requirements. Resolve conflicts or challenges on-site quickly and effectively, keeping project goals in focus. Train and mentor crew members to promote skill development and adherence to company standards

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in civil construction, including underground utilities, earthworks, and infrastructure development. Strong technical knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices. Proven experience managing diverse crews and delivering complex projects on time and within budget. Ability to interpret engineered drawings, grade stakes, and specifications. Competence in project scheduling, productivity tracking, and documentation. Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, or apps for daily reports and communication. Gold Seal Certification or equivalent industry credentials (asset, not required). Valid driver's license and clean abstract. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work extended hours and in remote locations as required.

Compensation & Schedule

Wage: $45.00 per hour (based on experience) Shifts: Approx. 21 days on / 7 days off, scheduled to include long weekends where possible Minimum 8 hours pay per workday, even in case of site delays or shutdowns Work commences immediately Accommodations provided $100/day meal allowance $10/hour completion bonus, paid out at end of project term (conditions apply) Flights covered
