About Potash

BHP\'s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\'s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\'s global portfolio. Jansen\'s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.

Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The associated work schedule will be Monday to Friday.

As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Jansen site.

Reporting to Operations NPI Manager, the Superintendent Camp & Logistics provides technical expertise in the necessary systems, processes and organizational capabilities required to handover, operate, and maintain a new asset. Responsible to assist in overseeing and reporting all site activities to ensure contractors are managing daily operational activities to BHP standards. Provides effective leadership and oversight for overall management of the Jansen Discovery Lodge Construction Camp, associated catering, housekeeping, ongoing trade maintenance, culinary works, recreational activities, and other requirements as needed.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Supports effective Interfaces coordination amongst all other areas of the BHP Team Jansen Integrated Project Team (IPT) with the NPI Operational Readiness Team are well established and defined.
  • Ensure required input for weekly, monthly, and other reporting requirements are provided.
  • Active involvement in any incident reviews and ensures that identified causes and recommended procedure changes are actioned.
  • Provide an oversight of all work performed within the Jansen Discovery Lodge camp, including but not limited to oversight and adherence to all Food Safe requirements, ongoing housekeeping and janitorial tasks, laundry, and all trade maintenance activities within the camp. Deliberate focus to be placed on optimizing operations and ensuring the contractor is supported in delivery quality accommodation and amenities to all camp occupants.
  • Directly responsible for supporting the Fire Through Camp risk mitigation efforts and associated critical controls.
  • Directly responsible for reviewing project personnel forecasts and ensuring Discovery Lodge camp readiness to support project growth.
  • Reviews, approve, and permits as required, hazard specific work permits within the Discovery Lodge camp and applicable contractor activities.
  • Attends Daily Toolbox pre-start meetings and reinforces work planning and safe work execution strategies with all camp contractor personnel.
  • Actively participates and leads Field Leadership program elements including contractor key performance indicator (KPI) achievement for Take Time Talks, Planned Task Confirmations, Critical Control Observations, and Layered Audits (where required).
  • Conducts Daily field inspections of applicable work fronts and seeks contractor input for new ideas and input to strengthen the overall operation of the Discovery Lodge camp.
About You
  • A minimum of 7-10 years\' experience supervising construction projects and overseeing contractor activities, asset operational experience in either in mining, oil and gas, or other resource-based industries.
  • Bachelor of Science degree, or Engineering degree with a major in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate.
  • Solid interpersonal skills to oversee and mentor, contractors and consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Site Services supervisory experience on large projects and / or operations will be considered an asset.
