Reporting to the Supervisor, Transportation, the Summer Student, Traffic position is responsible for:


• To work collect traffic data and input is data collection system.
• To be knowledgeable of, and to enforce, all City of Cornwall Policies and other relevant legislations, including but not limited to Ministry of Health regulations, TSSA Standards, Health & Safety etc.
• Attend all in service training.
• To perform AADT mapping.
• To assist in the data collection of roads reclassification.
• To conduct speed studies.
• To keep inventory of all street signs.
• To assist in pavement marking.
• To assist in maintaining street light inventories.
• To update various departmental databases.
• To be a representative of the City of Cornwall and maintain outstanding public relations skills and professional image at all times.
• All other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:


• Full-time day student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance the fall of 2025.
• Knowledge in AutoCAD (GIS Plus).
• Keen Knowledge of databases.
• Valid Class G2 or G Driver's License.


Asset Qualifications:


Bilingualism is considered an asset.



If selected for this role, you may be required to work the following shifts:


• Monday-Thursday -- 7:00-10:00am // 11:30am-1:30pm // 3:00-6:00pm


• Fridays -- 7:00am-12:00pm // 1:00pm-4:00pm


• Line Painting (on occasion, based on operational needs) -- 7:00pm-6:00am




If selected for this role, you will need to provide:


• Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CRJMC (Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check), at the candidate's own expense.
• Must provide a satisfactory driver's abstract
• Successful reference check (two work-related references, with a minimum of one being a direct supervisor)
• Verification of school status


All Summer Students must be Full-time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in the fall of 2025.
