Nature and Scope



The Strategic Projects Assistant (O?ateki) - Summer Student provides support to the department by assisting with O?ateki project initiatives and performs administrative functions while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and careful handling of highly confidential and sensitive information. General Accountability



The Strategic Projects Assistant (O?ateki) - Summer Student will have the opportunity to gain excellent experience while developing the skills necessary to be successful in their future. The summer student will have an opportunity to improve their teamwork and communication skills, as well as, their administrative skills and leadership capabilities. This position includes the following broad range of accountabilities:

Specific Accountabilities



Providing assistance in research, development, and implementation of marketing and other project initiatives Assist with updates to social media, website, and materials Provide professional administrative assistance to your direct supervisor and to employees in the department to support the accomplishment of business activities Assist in maintaining the filing systems of the department Carry out quality control of data entry as required Receive, sort, and send mail, courier packages, and other deliveries Handle and process documents with confidentiality and compliance while exercising best practice with administrative procedures. Assist with records management, records destruction and file maintenance - physical and electronic as well as the retention and destruction of documents Provide administrative support to the department including photocopying, faxing, filing documents and reports and maintaining files Provide support and back-up coverage in the office during periods of high workload and absences Provide additional support on special projects and department initiatives as required

There may be some summer student positions that must meet the following criteria:



First Nations and Inuit secondary and post-secondary students aged 15 to 30 inclusive Ordinarily resident on reserve or in recognized communities or on community lands Legally entitled to work in Canada Registered as students during the preceding academic year and who intend to return to studies in the next academic year

Position Requirements:

Prior experience working with Microsoft Office suite of programs is an asset.
