The Summer Work Crew Assistant provides care and support to the summer work crew participants. The Summer Work Crew Assistant is actively engaged and fully participates in the maintenance and repair of agency properties, including painting, cleaning and yard maintenance. The Summer Work Crew Assistant works to provide the participants with a safe, nurturing, predictable, and structured summer work experience.



Summer work crew program will run from July 2 to August 22, 2025.


Education and Professional Certification


• Completion of a high school diploma.
• A certificate, diploma, or degree in child and youth care (CYC) or in a related field of study is an asset.


Experience


• One (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioural, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities


Services


• Providing supervision, structure, and support to summer work crew
• Assisting in the development, organization and implementation of a therapeutic day program
• Provide technical support to residents on operating of equipment
• Maintenance and repair of properties, including painting, watering, cleaning, and mowing lawns
• Picking up scrap and hauling to the dump
• Provide feedback to and supervision of crew
• Hold group sessions and plan recreation activities
• Gardening and carpentry skills an asset
• Maintain a therapeutic milieu.
• Engage and fully participate with the participants.
• Participate in team meetings and discussions.
• Resolve conflicts and respond to crisis situations using behavioural management and support methods including conflict resolution, crisis management, and life space interviewing.
• Complete reports and documentation clearly, accurately, in a timely manner, and within agency standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.


Leadership


• Provide support and guidance to employees.
• Display positive role modelling, agency values, and fairness.
• Collaborate with and communicate to the multidisciplinary team when required.

Management of Resources


• Submit receipts and reconcile expenses for approved expenditures.
• Ensure vehicle log is completed accurately when agency vehicle is used.
• Ensure care, cleanliness, and maintenance of assigned assets and resources including; building(s), vehicles(s), furnishings, and equipment.

Safety


• Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures.
• Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.


Additional Requirements



The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.


Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher driver's license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.


Wage ranges are as follows:



Wage for this position ranges from $21.25 to $27.83 an hour.
