Assisting in creating cohesive content for social media platforms run by the Centre for Newcomers. This students' skill set will be directed more specifically towards youth-centered programming, to ensure strategic alignment to youth engagement and contributions. Youth will have the opportunity to consult on and contribute to digital media content and platforms that are relevant to targeted demographics, specifically racialized youth.
Supervision plan:
This role will report to the Communications Department. Guidance regarding media content, communications, branding and distribution will be overseen by the Communication director. This summer student will have daily contact, guidance, or mentorship, with at least one individual from their respective departments depending on tasks. Through these strategic supervision and guidance opportunities the youth will foster appropriate skill sets to improve their overall employability.

Details on mentoring plan:
The summer student will work closely with the communication department to improve their skills in producing content for social media platforms. The youth will be able to improve their abilities in using various digital content creation software and programming. In addition, the Real Me team will mentor the summer student to improve their sense of self-worth, engagement and empowerment in a culturally competent manner.
Specific Skills:
- Content production: The student will improve their ability to create quality branded, cohesive and relevant social media content through the use of digital tools.
- Time management: The student will improve their ability to work in a time-sensitive and fast paced professional environment. They will also improve their ability to produce high-calibre work within strict time constraints.

- Communication: The student will improve their ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders both verbally and non-verbally. Given the nature of this role, the student will have a more thorough understanding of marketing, branding and communication within digital and organizational platforms.
- Teamwork: the student will improve their ability to work collaboratively with multiple and diverse colleagues in a professional setting.
Academic studies:
Design, communications, marketing.
Opportunities for youth gain work experience and skilled trades:
This would provide experience for future opportunities in digital marketing, strategy, design or communication roles.
Qualifications:
Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations;
Between 18 to 30 years of age at the start of employment;

Compensation:
$18.00/hr. for 35 hrs./week for 8 weeks
