This is an ideal opportunity for a student pursuing post-secondary studies in interior design to gain hands-on industry experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Role Overview:
As an Interior Design Intern, you will work closely with our in-house design team to support the design development and procurement process for multi-family residential projects. A strong focus of your role will involve researching materials and products, and communicating with suppliers in China, requiring fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build real-world experience in sourcing, design documentation, and supplier coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in sourcing materials, furnishings, finishes, and fixtures from both local and international suppliers, particularly in China.
Communicate with Chinese vendors and manufacturers to obtain quotes, confirm orders, and track shipments.
Conduct design research to support material selection, specifications, and overall concept development.
Assist with preparing mood boards, sample presentations, and product binders.
Help track and document procurement activities and maintain organized purchasing records.
Provide general administrative support to the design team.
Support the coordination of display suite staging and accessory procurement.
Assist with the preparation of Autocad Drawings
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a recognized Interior Design program.
Fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin (spoken and written) to communicate effectively with international suppliers.
Strong organizational and research skills with attention to detail.
Interest in procurement and the materials side of interior design.
Professional communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Basic understanding of design principles and interest in residential real estate is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
