Job Description

Position Summary
Reporting to the Children's Program Coordinator, the Summer Program Coordinator is a seasonal position responsible for assisting in the planning and delivery of Family and Community Support Services programming to children of Yellowhead County.
Position Responsibilities
Program Planning-40%

  • Plan activities for children's summer programs and assist in the preparation of a variety of other activities;
  • Identify additional program opportunities throughout County as appropriate;
  • Identify and source materials and supplies for programs within budget allocation;
Program Implementation-40%
  • Prepare facilities and supplies for program delivery;
  • Deliver camps for children 3-12 years of age;
  • Provide or assist in the provision of program delivery for applicable child and youth programs;
  • Ensure the health and safety of program participants;
  • Mentor and assist in directing the Summer Youth Worker and assign activities as appropriate;
  • Adhere to Yellowhead County Health and Safety Program in day-to-day operations;
Administration-20%
  • Assist with program advertising;
  • Maintain a record of daily program activities, providing recommendations for future program improvement;
  • Assist in program evaluation through the collection of feedback from participants and associated parties; and
  • Assist in report preparation.
Qualification, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Child Care or Early Learning or Education or related considered an asset;
  • Must be 18 years of age or older;
  • Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) drivers license with less than 6 demerits;
  • Completion of Defensive Driving;
  • Prior experience working with children or youth required;
  • Incumbent must provide a Police Information Check Vulnerable Sector;
  • Physical aptitude and ability to safely lift with a maximum of 25lbs; and
  • Good communication and time management skills.
Working Environment
  • Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to adverse weather; and
  • Hours of work are variable dependent on program needs.
The hourly wage is $23.96 to $26.08. This is a seasonal position. Position dates are approximately May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026.
This position is based out of Wildwood with travel throughout Yellowhead County as required.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Applicants must include a cover letter, resume, 2 written references and driver's abstract to be considered for an interview. Defensive Driving completion is required (5 year validity).
Successful applicants will be required to provide a Police Information Check & Vulnerable Sector with satisfactory results.
