Summer Outreach Specialists




The Kentville Parks and Recreation Department provides top quality recreational programs and


services for Kentville and area residents, and is looking for adventurous, enthusiastic employees


to help us keep our commitment to the community. If you are an energetic, self-motivated,

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Neighbourhood Outreach Program Coordinator and working closely with the


Parks and Recreation Team, the Summer Outreach Leaders will assist the Neighbourhood


Outreach Program Coordinator in fostering a sense of community connection and well-being in


the Town of Kentville. These positions offer an opportunity to engage directly with community


members, develop initiatives and support projects that enhance inclusivity, belonging, and the


quality of life in the town.




We are looking for individuals who are:


Enrolled in a recognized University or Community College in an applicable field of study


(applicants with equivalent training & experience will also be considered);


Experienced in program planning and delivery;


Enthusiastic, organized, and a motivated self-starter.


A creative problem solver and able to adapt quickly.


A passionate believer and implementer of inclusive practices.


Willing to learn and be a part of a dynamic team and working in partnership with


community organizations.


Knowledgeable about the principles of community development.


Experienced in mentoring and teaching leadership skills is an asset.


Aware of your own privilege and how you are using it to help others.


Passionate about delivering thoughtful and impactful recreation opportunities;


Willing to have fun and play.


Flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as needed.





Professional development opportunities will also be made available throughout the summer.


This position will run from May to August. Pending budget approval, compensation for this


12-week contract is between $18-20 per hour based on 35 hours/week, with some evenings Commented [BC1]: Is this the correct rate?


and weekends as required.
