Position Title: Summer Intervenor
Location: Positions across Newfoundland and Labrador, CA
Term: Part-time, Contract
Reports To: Provincial Manager, Healthcare Operations via Early Intervention Specialist
Salary: $16/hour
Date: May 13, 2025
I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
The primary focus of this role is to support children, youth, and their families in the Summer Intervention Program.
II. Program Summary
The Summer Intervention Program must meet four fundamental goals that are adapted for each child based on their individual strengths and needs:

• Prevention of Regression: Children who are experiencing vision loss and/or multiple disabilities may experience a regression of skills without a structured learning environment. Intervenors will provide opportunities for children to maintain knowledge and skills learned at home, in daycare, or in school.
• Obtaining New Skills: Intervenors will encourage the development of new skills through structured activities that are adapted to meet the childs needs. The childs parents/guardians, Early Intervention Specialist, Teachers, or Itinerant Teachers can help with planning or modifying activities.
• Encouraging Integration: Intervenors will help children with vision loss by encouraging integration and offering opportunities to participate in activities with other children in their community. Integration may also focus on reducing any socially inappropriate mannerisms or behaviours.
• Promote Independence: Intervenors will help children with vision loss to maintain or improve their independence and self-image.

III. Role Expectations
The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:
xc2xb7 Actively participates in Summer Intervention Program training,
xc2xb7 Supports children and their families in the Summer Intervention Program,
xc2xb7 Engages with the child in meaningful and goal-focused activities,
xc2xb7 Maintains detailed and accurate documentation,
xc2xb7 Regular communication with the family, and the Early Intervention Specialist,
xc2xb7 Maintains confidentiality of children, youth and their families and
xc2xb7 Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Requirements
III. Qualifications
xc2xb7 Experience working with children or youth with disabilities,
xc2xb7 Demonstrates organizational and time management skills,
xc2xb7 Sensitivity to the needs of children with vision loss,
xc2xb7 Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing,
xc2xb7 Ability to work flexible hours,
xc2xb7 At least sixteen years of age,
xc2xb7 Clear Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check (from RNC) or Criminal Records Check (from RCMP).
