Geology Summer Students
St Barbara Atlantic are seeking Geology Summer Students to support our upcoming field season campaign. Based out of St Barbara's Bedford office and reporting to the Exploration Project Geologist and Exploration Superintendent; Geology Summer Students will spend significant amounts of time in the field to support the planned exploration activities aimed at evaluating the many exploration targets and resources under development by St Barbara Atlantic throughout Nova Scotia.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Providing support to St Barbara staff geologists in the field
• Undertaking rock chipping and auger sampling programs
• Logging, cutting and sampling of drill core
• Sorting and collating historical pulp samples
• Always ensuring a safe working environment
• Completing other geological activities as assigned
Essential Requirements:
• Working toward a Geology degree
• Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products
• Strong communication skills
• Valid Driver's License
• Own transportation to/from St Barbara's Bedford office
• Competent with outdoor field work which includes being proficient on the use and operation of a GPS and compass and being able to hike long distances while carrying samples
Working Conditions:
• Physically demanding - 10 to 12-hour days hiking through the woods in variable weather conditions
• 40 hour working week
• Must be available to undertake regional field work which will require overnight stays away from Halifax
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment
