Summary

This position is available to individuals through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Eligible applicants must be:

between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

This full-time summer contract position (35 hours per week/temporary 9 week contract) is located at our Greystone Centre in Spryfield (4 Cranberry Court), and will support our Summer Camps for Children and Youth, as well as our Community Garden Program and Community Market.

Applicants must be available for the full summer.

Start Date: June 30, 2025-August 29, 2025.

The Community and Youth Worker is responsible for providing summer programs for children, youth, and adults at the Greystone Community Centre.

These programs include Healthy Kidz and Healthy Teenz summer camps (for children and youth ages 5-15) and additional community programs such as the Community Garden and Community Market.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, actively participating and leading by example the Healthy Kidz and Healthy Teenz Summer Camp Programs, leading activities in the Community Garden or Centre as directed by the leadership team, attending regular meetings, attending professional training workshops and continuing education to remain current with trends and best practices in the industry. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

? 2-4 years experience working with children and/or youth preferred.

? Previous community-related experience is an asset.

? Current CPR and First Aid Certificates (required).

? Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search (required).

? Driver's License an asset.

? High Five Training an asset.

? Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

? High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

? Proven organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.

Work Conditions

? Interacts with children, youth, adults, employees, management and the public at large.

? Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting and lifting.

? Manual dexterity required to operate computer and peripherals.

? Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

? Repetitive work.

SCHEDULE:

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT NECESSARY: July - August 2025. Daytime hours between 9:00am-5:00pm, flexible schedule.

Rate of Pay: $18.19/hour
