Position: Agronomy Summer Associate
Contract Duration: 4-6 months (summer 2026)
Location: Taber, AB
About us: Nakamura Farms (2022) LTD is a fourth-generation potato farm in the Taber-Cranford Alberta area, producing over 10 varieties of potatoes for 5 different processors. The Agronomy Summer Associate role will be trained by and work directly with the farm Production Agronomist in daily field scouting and agronomic field decisions.
Wage: $24-27/hour, truck provided for farm purposes.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
Field scouting in commodities including: Potatoes, Seed Canola, Cereals, Pulses, Cannery Corn Participate in weekly agronomy meetings with the farm owners Crop health assessments and growth staging Irrigation management and scheduling: assessing soil moisture by hand feel method Petiole collection in potatoes Preharvest sampling in potatoes Additional responsibilities may be added based on experience
Qualifications:
A valid drivers license is required Strong communication and organizational skills Physically able to walk fields and collect potato samples A basic understanding of crop production Able to follow directions and work in a team environment
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 4-6 months
Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
Work Location: In person
