Core Responsibilities
The Instructor will be responsible for delivering CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) aligned English Language training for newcomers to Canada according to IRCC established Language Training Outcomes. The Instructor may also be required to complement classroom instruction with appropriate field trips and guest speakers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver daily lesson plans for newcomers to learn English usage for real-world tasks that align with Canadian Language benchmarks.
Teaches in an engaging and effective manner, respectful of student diversity and needs, and mindful of IRCC Language Training Outcomes.
Maintains accurate records, including attendance sheets, exit forms and submits reports promptly to ensure students' progress effectively.
Uses Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) as directed.
Communicates client needs and issues to the Student Services Coordinator or the Language School Teacher Lead.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Language School Teacher Lead.
Required Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:TESL Canada-recognized TESL/TESOL certificate, or an equivalent diploma, or a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Confirmed proficiency in English. Confirmation can be provided by a minimum of one of the following:
English Language as a first language.
Completion of a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an English-speaking country where the program was taught in English; or
A minimum TOEFL score of 550; or
A minimum IELTS score of 6.5
Knowledge of local community resources for newcomers to Canada; an asset
Classroom teaching experience with adult newcomers to Canada; an asset
Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in use of computer programs including MS Word, email, internet, and experience with LMS (Learning Management System) would be an asset.
Proficient in the use of internet and other computer-based technology in the classroom.
Familiar with use of typical office and classroom equipment (including smartboard technology).
