Job Description

Reporting to the LINC/CNC Coordinator, CNC educators provide professional care for Newcomer Children under the guidance and leadership of lead CNC educator.

Key Responsibilities



Be familiar with and follow relevant licensing regulations, policies and TIES Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) Program manual Complete daily routine tasks including setting up the rooms appropriately and safely for children, building rapport with parents and providing assistance, following proper protocols for signing in and out of all children, checking children for injuries and illness upon arrival, recording children's daily attendance, activities, and health status, providing healthy snack, and other housekeeping tasks Inspect and maintain cleanliness of toys and equipment; report noticeable hazard materials and equipment to the supervisor immediately Monitor the children's behavior and intervene as needed Assist the LINC Lead CNC Educator in planning activities and program which respects and reflects diverse values and traditions of the enrolled children Maintain proper hygiene of all children and be aware of signs or symptoms of abuse and contagious illnesses Document and submit incident reports to the supervisor and communicate with the parents when applicable

Position Requirements



Education & Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of level one Childcare Assistant Certificate (CSC) and one year work experience in childcare settings.

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge in the childcare related area Obtain all required and valid documents including first-aid certificate, Canadian police clearance with vulnerable sector done within the last 6 months, food safety certificate, negatively-tested tuberculosis test results, and tetanus and diphtheria vaccination Strong communication and interpersonal skills Be sensitive to cultural differences and the ability to work with various ethnicities Proven team player by demonstrating the ability to participate in a highly team-based environment Passionate about working with children; outgoing and creative Effective problem solving skills Understand cultural differences and be sensitive to the needs of the children from various ethnic backgrounds Strong work ethics and commitment to the success of the organization
