Reporting to the Den Manager, the Substance Use Worker provides support to the community member we serve that are facing substance use problems and challenges.

Position Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of up to 25 clients using a human-centered, trauma-informed approach.
Conduct follow-up outreach to clients post-treatment to assess ongoing needs.
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
Maintain accurate client records, data entry, and incident tracking, ensuring timely communication internally and externally.
Provide referrals to relevant programs and services, coordinating care as needed.
Coordinate transportation to appointments for clients
Support community members with the navigation of local and province- wide treatments related to their individual needs.
Facilitate transportation to appointments and treatment facilities with personal vehicle.
Stay informed on community resources and treatment options to provide effective guidance.
Participate in case conferencing within your assigned interdisciplinary team
All other duties as outlined by program manager
BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
Qualifications
Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study (Social Work, Psychology)
Minimum 2 years experience working as a substance use worker
Minimum 2 years experience delivering community based services
Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector completed within the past six months and kept up to date (every 3 years)
Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months and kept up to date (every 3 years)
Valid Class 5 Non-GDL license and access to a reliable personal vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance
Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset.
