As a Substance Use and Addictions Peer Support Worker, you will provide peer support, harm reduction services, and recovery supports.
The main focus of the program is supporting and enhancing the role of people with lived and living experience within organizations that address substance use across a comprehensive continuum of care.
Thrive Peer Support Worker
Full-time until March 31, 2028
Duties include:
Participate in daily Street Reach drop-in programming
Participate in outreach walks
Provide naloxone training and kits to individuals and groups
Provide peer support to individuals impacted by substance use
Participate in team and staff meetings
Track statistics and activities and complete daily logs
Qualifications:
? Lived experience with substance use, and comfort level to use your lived experience to support peers
? Diploma in social service area an asset
? Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction
? Previous experience working in community-based setting considered an asset
? Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check is required (For Thrive position -- Clear record of conduct is not a requirement, employer will consider nature and timing of any convictions.)
Starting salary is $50,000 annually.

Stella's Circle Peer Support Worker
Parental leave replacement
Anticipated between six to 12-month contract
The Community Support Program (CSP) with Stella's Circle offers the highest level of help to adults living in St. John's with complex mental health and substance use health needs. The CSP works to improve overall quality of life and enhance housing stability, reducing hospital visits and incarcerations.
Each program participant is connected to an intensive Case Manager and a team of Community Mental Health Workers, to provide individualized and harm-reduction support services. The focus of the work is on developing supportive relationships, actioning support plans with participants, building on strengths to reach goals, and increasing access to basic needs and community connection.
The role of the Peer Support Worker will be to meet one on one with program participants in their homes, attend recovery-focused meetings or events with participants, participate in CSP drop-in, special events, and recreation activities, and support outreach efforts.
The Peer Support Worker will contribute during regularly scheduled team meetings, to help the team understand participant needs from a peer perspective. The Peer Support Worker will have on-site support through the CSP Program Manager, Case Managers and Community Mental Health Workers.
Qualifications:
? Lived experience with substance use, and comfort level to use your lived experience to support peers
? Diploma in social service area an asset
? Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction
? Previous experience working in community-based setting considered an asset
? Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check is required
? Enhanced Reliability Status clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada is also required (Stella's Circle position only)
? Driver's license and access to a vehicle (Stella's Circle position only)
Starting salary is based on $50,000 annually.
