SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS - INSURANCE PROFESSIONALS

CONTINUINGE EDUCATION

NorQuest College \xe2\x80\x93 Continuing Education is seeking experienced subject matter experts (SME\xe2\x80\x99s) to provide consultation and course development for the creation of courses related to the insurance industry on a contract basis. Course development will include topics such as:

  • insurance basics (the realities of the industry, different careers within insurance, growth opportunities, risk management principles, etc.)
  • sales and marketing for brokers
  • relationship management
  • essential skills to building a broker business
  • adaptability
  • developing a growth mindset
  • leadership and professionalism
  • digital transformation in the insurance industry
  • enhancing the customer experience through automation and AI
SME\xe2\x80\x99s will be hired on a fee for service contract basis for this project only and as such, full quotes are to be submitted before we move forward with selection. This is not a full-time job, but will require the SME to be available for consultation between June 2023 and December 2023 for approximately 10 hours/week.

HOW YOU\'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
  • Review existing course content and materials prescribed by NorQuest College.
  • Provide consultation and knowledge to an instructional designer to create and/ or augment courses related to topics chosen by NorQuest College.
  • Assist with the generation of classroom materials, curriculum, and/or assessments as required.
  • Effectively manage time to ensure project is completed on schedule.
  • Monitor and report to NorQuest College on project progress.
  • Respond to communication from NorQuest College staff in a timely manner, both prior to and during curriculum development.
  • Participate in a program creation debrief meeting(s) with NorQuest staff, and provide specific recommendations related to the course, materials, student preparedness, delivery format, etc.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry, particularly in the role of \xe2\x80\x98broker\xe2\x80\x99.
  • Understanding of the job market for insurance jobs in Alberta.
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience teaching or coaching adult learners (in a classroom or professional setting).
  • Ability to convey knowledge in clear and succinct ways.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for developing a new training program for those entering the field of insurance.
