People like you!This is supervisory work involving the direction of a helper engaged in inspections of underground sewer installations using closed circuit television equipment. An incumbent participates in the work, performs routine maintenance and repair on equipment and initiates corrective action for detected problems. Organizes and implements inspection program for underground sewer installations; assists in establishing day-to-day work requirements and scheduling. Carries out visual inspections of services, pipes, joints, manholes, inspection chambers and culverts using closed circuit television equipment, smoke and dye; locates and identifies internal damage, infiltrations and other actual or potential problem areas; makes video recording of problem areas, as required; assesses nature and scope of problem, degree of urgency and course of action. Supervises and directs the work of a helper engaged in inspections; directs workers assigned to repair tasks using grout packers, water powered cutters and other forms of trenchless pipe repair; directs flush truck operators as required. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include the completion of the Grade 12 supplemented by technical training leading to CCTV certification plus sound related experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in storm and sanitary sewer maintenance, repair and minor construction projects. Sound knowledge of the use and maintenance of closed circuit television and video tape equipment used in underground inspection work. Sound knowledge of the hazards, safety precautions and WCB regulations pertaining to the work. Working knowledge of the capabilities of the maintenance management system. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and assist in the work of labourers engaged in inspection and minor repair of storm and sanitary sewers systems.
