We're seeking a motivated Studio & Equipment Intern to join our team part-time. Perfect for film/media students or recent graduates, you'll gain hands-on experience with professional production equipment, including RED cameras, Aputure lighting, and cinema lenses. This internship bridges classroom theory with practical application, providing valuable skills and connections that translate directly to industry roles.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
We're a small, passionate team based in Etobicoke, where you'll work across two of our three interconnected brands:
Viva Studios: Our 3,000 sq ft studio rental space at 777 Queensway, featuring professional lighting, green room, and production amenities.
Viva Camera: Our equipment rental service providing filmmakers with professional-grade cameras, lenses, lighting, and grip equipment.
Viva Media: Our production company (though this internship focuses on Studios and Camera operations).
Working with us connects you with industry talent while learning the inner workings of production facilities and rental operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Studio Operations:
Prepare studio space for client shoots (cleaning, setup, organization)
Assist clients during productions and serve as first point of contact
Learn studio lighting systems and help with technical setups
Assist with facility maintenance and inventory management
Equipment Management:
Handle check-in/check-out procedures for professional gear
Maintain and prep camera packages, lighting kits, and grip equipment
Perform basic equipment maintenance and organization
Learn proper handling of cinema cameras, lenses, and accessories
General Support:
Create content showcasing our studio space and equipment offerings
Assist with client communications and booking inquiries
Support the team during busy rental periods and production days
Help with administrative tasks and online database management
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Film/media student or recent graduate with basic production knowledge
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to lift equipment (up to 25 lbs)
Customer service mindset and professional communication
Valid G driver's license is an asset
Bonus: Experience with and access to camera/lighting equipment, Adobe Creative Suite, or production environments
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
This internship provides practical experience in studio operations, professional equipment handling, client relations, and technical production knowledge. Our past interns have moved into roles as camera assistants, rental house technicians, and studio coordinators--making this a proven pathway into the industry.
COMPENSATION
Pay Rate: $20/hour based on experience
Hours: 15-20 hours per week with flexible scheduling for students
WORK SETUP
Part-time (15-20 hours/week) at our Etobicoke location (777 Queensway)
Some weekend availability preferred as studio rentals occasionally occur on weekends
Consistent weekly schedule with occasional adjustments for special events
